The room was very clean and extremely comfortable. The view from the balcony was superb, and the breakfast and sevice is second to none.
The shower was not up to standard, and we could not use the bath for a bath because of thhje faulty shower valve.
The view & location was the only point in its favour!
The actual hotel ius very shabby and awaiting total refurbishment. The prices they are charging cannot be justified in any way and I was bitterly dispaoointed with the standard of the hotel, especially the rooms. The window panes in pone of our rooms was very loose in its frame and not really very secure!
The white bedlinen - the clean room - tea making facility’s with bottles of water etc. the cotton wool balls & hairdryer the staff - the food - the views the pool, the sun shower, the gym, steam room & sauna
No spa working coffee at breakfast too cold and weak 2 drinks from the bar on same day, were served incorrectly as we got drinks from the bar man - when it was the female manger who actually served the correct drinks later ( I appreciate the Irish coffee & white wine with soda, may have been complicated drinks but if the bar staff where given very little training I’m sure they could have delivered these drink sooner, rather than waiting quite some time for a supervisor to produce said drinks)
Excellent hotel and hte staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location and wojld recommend the hotel to anyone.
The staff were the stars of the show, closely followed by the views. An excellent hotel for a family or just for a couple. I would highly recommend it.
Salcombe prices (for staying in Salcombe!)
We were very disappointed with the hotel - I rang the day before to arrange dinner and was told that this would be arranged upon arrival, however when we got there no-one to us about dinner. The breakfast was really poor - there was cheap package bread, very very weak coffee and the runniest, most salty scrambled egg I have ever tasted. plus our paper didn't arrive and when we asked we were told that it hadn't been delivered. The hotel was very expensive for such poor food!
convenient very comfy bed
slightly shabby- threadbare carpet in bedroom door to balcony would not shut properly
Location cannot be bettered. Large room, very comfortable bed. Staff attitude when asked for anything very willing and helpful. Hope the bidet is retained.
Badly in need of updating - due to start later 2011. No clock in the bedroom. Cupboard doors either broken or just old. Bathroom cramped, no info on how the shower/bath worked.
Beautiful views across the harbour. Very helpful staff at reception and at the swimming pool.
Bed not paricularly comfortable and bathroom, although spacious, in need of a make-over.
The Staff helpful. View from the hotel great
The room was on the road, the noise was unpleasent and we had to keep the windows open otherwise the room was stuffy. At breakfast had a cheese omelette which tasted of fish. It would have been great if the staff in a resort hotel could answer questions about the area.
We enjoyed the wonderful view. My wife liked the large fluffy bath towels and the quality of the bed linen. We enjoyed the meals that that we had in the hotel,
Lift was a bit creaky. The staircase should have had fire doors. The douvet was too small for the big bed. The bathroom was badly arranged with the toilet too close behind the bathroom door. My wife didn't like the fixed shower which mean that she couldn't put the water where she wanted it! We thought that the waiting service was poor. Sometimes we had to wait 20 minutes between courses. In the town all the restaurants that we visited fed us efficiently and in good time between courses.
Staff very friendly, good service we had a beautifull view of the bay with a balcony absolutely stunning location, short walk down a hill to quaint little town centre with nice selection of shops and some lovely little restaurants.
We had an excellent evening meal and also lunchtime snacks, but breakfast was the only thing that let them down, poached egg was tasteless and it took forever. Hotel is undergoing refurbishment and will be superb once this has taken place.
It was all very tired and run down. The room I stayed in had a broken pain of glass, dirty window, dirty toilet bowl, bad plumbing and a fire escape running through our bedroom. The leisure centre was badly in need of refurbsihment, it smelt of damp and many parts were broken or held together with tape..Getting a drink on the terrace was hard work
It is always very comfortable and relaxing and the food is excellent.
It could do with a refurbish.
Mitchell was a fantastic guy very helpful indeed always very pleasant !! Angela was also a star helping me out when I was a little poorly one day both are true assets to your bizz. Hotel in general was good although there is some maintainance problems to address. Shower did not turn off , and bath would not work this was in two different rooms, but your handy guy was very swift in sorting the matter out. But Loved it will book again, Kindest, Claire Simpson.
